Mark your calendars for Friends' 23rd annual Chicago River Day on May 9, 2015 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. Our flagship, city-wide river clean-up, spans the river's 156-mile system throughout northeastern Illinois . Volunteers can remove tons of trash, construct river trails, remove invasive plant species, and plant native flora all along the banks of the Chicago River. We are currently looking for in-kind donations of work gloves and heavy duty garbage bags for our 3,000 volunteers, or a gift card so we can purchase these items ourselves. With sixty cleanup sites throughout the Chicago River system and exciting new on-the-water sites, this year there is something for everyone!
